Thanks for responding to my inquiry!!

I recall you mentioned about several websites that you own and you somehow connect this marketing through these websites. I have taken steps for a side business of my own, which is basically developing software application systems, websites and stuff for 'different' type of customers and just wondering whether I can fit this in to this type of business. In your case you mentioned to select a particular business for eg. Insurance or something likes that. Just curious!! Can you please give me some insight in to it?

Sorry for the late reply Maria , i just got up (one of the perks of self employed !) ...

Online Affiliate Marketing is just like a real world commsssion based selling. You basically sell other website's products /services and get a commission for each sale/lead you produced.


How this works ?

You basically join a merchant's affiliate marketing program directly or through an network( cj.com/linkshare.com etc) .After the merchant approves you will get tracking urls which you should promote (through your website) . When the visitor clicks this url and land in the merchant site and buys something you are credited a pre-defined commssion.

Usually the visitor is tracked using a cookie ,so even if the visitor dont buy in the first visit you will still get commission if he visits again and buys (before the cookie expires) .So the longer the cookie the better.

Basically most affiliate marketers use search marketing "
